National President


   James Smith has been a brother of Alpha Delta Gamma since the Spring of '99 when he was initiated as a brother of the Kappa Chapter at The Catholic University of America. At the Chapter level, Jim served as Secretary, Rush Chairman, Alumni Chairman, Academic Chairman, Athletic Chairman, Candidate Educator and Chapter President.

On the National level, Mr. Smith has served as Alpha Delta Gamma's North American Interfraternity Conference Delegate, as well as serving as Director of Expansion. In 2000 he was elected National Student Representative and in 2002 he was elected National Vice President of External Affairs. In 2004, Mr. Smith was elected Executive Vice President, were he oversaw the day to day operations of the National Council. Some of Jim's other accomplishments have included the creation of Founder's Day, the celebration of the Founding of our national fraternity as well as being a recipient of the National President's Award, Active of the Year. This award is given out annually by the discretion of the National President to the member who best exemplified service to the fraternity in the past year. Jim also spear headed the Ritual and Lore Committee in 2005, codifying a strong foundation for the fraternity.

In the summer of 2006, Mr. Smith was elected to the fraternity's highest office, National President. Mr. Smith brings plenty of experience to this position, having served previously on National Council, as well as holding many key leadership positions on the chapter level. As National President, Mr. Smith will ensure that the vision of the fraternity continues to move in the right direction both internally and externally.

Jim received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, History from The Catholic University of America with a minor in Philosophy. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife Catherine, and daughter Julia.
