Text Box: Recap from
Conference STL

This past February saw one of our most successful and highly attended Spring Conferences to date in the Gateway City of St. Louis. Fifty-five brothers (both active and alumni) from nearly every chapter and colony gathered Friday night and Saturday morning to attend the Leadership Seminars and workshops despite the record cold temperatures in the Midwest.
After a night of camaraderie and karaoke, the meetings officially opened Tuesday morning at 10:00am with ice-breakers and introductions. Caleb Finch and Vaughn Helmer helped to host a risk management seminar on how to safely and smartly host a gathering while reducing the liability of the chapter. There was some healthy feedback and an informative Q&A session afterwards before the lunch break at Vito’s next to campus.
The afternoon session was focused primarily on recruitment and the problems that all chapters are facing in garnering interest and new membership. Jon Williamson from the NIC was gracious enough to come down to lead this session and for the next couple of hours engaged the AlphaDelts and other Greeks from SLU in various small group activities and brainstorming.
The end result was a greater understanding of the problems facing college campuses in drawing in new members and in attracting attention in general to Greek life and recruiting. We are all still very grateful to Jon for his time and efforts to come out to SLU to speak with everyone. The PowerPoint presentations and shows are still available through your national representatives, so please feel free to contact anyone on the council to obtain

A night of revelry followed as the Beta brothers put on a heck of a time at one of the local pubs, which was rented out for ADG and friends. Dancing and chatting the night away, the Conference concluded on a high note of good times and great fun. We would like to thank the brothers of Beta for their exceptional efforts and for the great success of the weekend. It was one not to be missed.
If you have any questions about the seminars given or the information therein, please contact the Council and we will be more than happy to provide you with any notes, documents and materials that you desire. If you have never experienced the Spring Leadership Conference, you are always welcomed to come out and enjoy the fun, knowledge and overall brotherhood that any National gathering has to offer. Don’t forget that our Summer Convention will be August 8-13 in Los Angeles this year. Make your plans today!

that useful information.

After the Recruitment session, the Council again touched on the Culture Change initiative, as well as the ritual and lore of Laetare Sunday (March 26 this year).  There is an official ceremony and script for the celebration and all chapters are encouraged to utilize this resource when holding individuals services.  Jim Smith has this information on CD and can be reached via e-mail to obtain it (ExecutiveVP@alphadeltagamma.org).
