2023 Founders' Day Address

Updated: Dec 6

Hello Brothers,

Today is a very special day for our fraternity as we commemorate 99 years of brotherhood. We have weathered considerable adversity over the last few years in the forms of a global pandemic, a decrease in young men choosing to enroll in college, and increasing insurance and other operational costs. Our societal transition to a new normal is essentially complete and although we are smaller than we have been in the past, our chapters are stronger and better equipped to handle the challenges they face on their local campuses.

Our active chapters have been united in celebration for the last week by participating in events that live up to our 5 S’s. We have had a very successful recruitment period so far and we’re also pursuing growth opportunities as an organization. We have recently been approved by the Student Life Office at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA, to start a colony. Other campuses that have shown interest in bringing us into their communities include Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, and Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY. We are very excited for these opportunities along with rebuilding efforts for our currently defunct chapters.

The growth of our current chapters and opportunities to expand have been the top priorities of the National Council for the last few months and we are thankful to already have results to show for it. We recognize that there are still ways for us to improve and we are looking forward to doing just that as we move into our 100th year as an organization. Please take a moment to contact a brother to both reminisce on the good times and plan to make future memories. As always, feel free to contact anyone on the National Council if you have any questions about what to expect or want to lend a hand. Please join us on March 23rd, 2024, in LaGrange, GA, for the Spring Leadership Conference and July 24th-28th, 2024, in Chicago as we officially celebrate our centennial!

Ad Dei Gloriam,

Anthony Medellin

62nd National President
